No Knife

The computer is back to life so here is the next in my series..

I can't find another mp3 for the reincarnation of Atombombpocketknife, Thumbnail, but just to let you know, the guys ditched Thumbnail and reformed the ABPK.

I have been unhealthily obsessed with this band since I first started listeing to them about half a year ago. Their name: No Knife from San Diego. Im pretty sure they're broken up after their latest albulm "Riot for Romance". Personally this is a shame, but it just means I have the check out the bands that have spawned from this creative giant. They are moonlife, get your death on, pinback, and The Jade Shader. I haven't heard any of this stuff yet, but I think The Jade Shader should be good because it includes another pretty good band , boilermaker.

Mitch Wilson - vocals/ guitars

Ryan Ferguson - vocals/ guitars

Brian Desjean - bass

Chris Prescott - drums

No Knife- Academy Flight Song

No Knife is 10 years old. These indie rockers have toured US, Canada, and were adored in Japan. Their first CD was released in 94, and is my favorite, it's called "Drunk on the Moon." Following this influencial CD was "Hitman dreams" and "Fire in the City of Automatons".

Then there was nothing. For 3 years. They had amasses quite a large following and they did nothing.

Then came "Riot for Romance" and it is the antidote for todays completely cookie cutter conformist rock scene.

Here is "Academy Flight Song" off of Fire in the City of Automatons CD. This song is my favorite off the album.

More No Knife tracks ahead on Nekst Song.

Speaking of Atombombpocketknife, do you listen to the Poison Arrows? Their new EP 'Straight into the Drift' is coming out March 20 ('07). The band features Justin Sinkovich from Atombombpocketknife. I've heard they don't tour much but you can catch them here:

Hm.

If you search the blog using the bar at the top for poison arrows you will find the entry that I wrote about them.

However I thought they were merely a one time side project of Justin's. It's interesting to see that he is bringing it back to life.

What I've heard of the old stuff is amazing.
